====== Basic Entities ====== ====Instance==== An instance is the name for an entire installation, instances are owned by whoever created them. ====Region==== An instance can be active on one or more regions, aka "Simulators" etc ====Module==== GPHUD is broken up into modules that provide functionality, as can be seen in the Configuration pages, some of these can be disabled to remove functionality. ====Avatar==== An avatar is your Second Life login. While creating a character is necessary to participate in "In Context" activities, administrative activities such as configuring the sim, setting other players character's data etc etc are performed "Out Of Context" by your Avatar rather than your Character. This means your permissions follow you whatever character you're using, and the permissions aren't lost when a character is retired etc. There are special groups called "Permissions Groups" which are groups of avatars, and Permissions Groups can be granted permissions. ====Character==== A character is your "In Context" existence. All attributes like ability points, strength, mana, health, name, etc etc are character attributes. Depending on the configuration, an avatar may have access to more than one character. ====User==== A User is a GPHUD login, as an avatar you may register your avatar against a user account, this may then be used to log in to the GPHUD web application via this username/password combination without requiring you to log in to Second Life first and go via a HUD. Also mandatory for all developers. A user may have one or more avatars associated with it and a User login can be used to switch between avatars connected to the same user for administrative purposes.
